Jason,
You got that right! Unrelated, the whisper that sounds like a roar reminds me of a great story I heard from Henry Rollins when he and his band opened for Ozzy. Great story and very funny. The bottom line was that Henry saw it as a great career achievement to hear all these fans screaming for him. He was on high, band mates completely stoked. "Can you believe it? We finally made the big time, they love us"... Then they heard the crowd 10x louder, deafening, and the loudest they had ever heard. Thats when they realized Ozzy took the stage. The story of our life - we always want to reach the finish line, but it keeps moving, but every race makes us stronger, better, more worthy of the win.

Keep doing good!

Justin, Isn't it interesting how when you dare to "take a step out of line" for the first time everyone whispers and points at you, feelings of self doubt and the sudden desire to hide under a rock hits you. After a few times stepping out of line and hitting a home run here, a base hit there, everyone is still pointing and whispering... but you perceive it differently. Feelings of self confidence and the sudden desire to stand on a rock in the Superman pose hits you. People who dare to be different are always different and therefore stand out of the crowd. It's not always easy, especially when you skin your knee, but once you cross the finish line the whispering sounds like roaring applause... even if it's just in your head. :)

Great quote Mike. I agree it applies to all aspects of life and didn't mean to pigeon hole it.

Justin, what you touch on here has so many more applications then just the business world. This is life in general. How many people are afraid to risk Love, Life, Financial, business, travel...all of these great things worth having...also have a painful reward for those who fail. Some people see this pain as too great to risk the jump.

“Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure...than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.” - Roosevelt

Fine post Justin!

Excellent. I could'nt agree more regarding the shift in support when you're pushing the envelope on expectaions. It seems once you move from the comfort of your youth, adults change the encouragement and praise factors and begin to push you into a mold. If youre breaking away from the norm, support fades. Its sad, really.
