I am curious how much Pandora listenership dropped when they went with the 40 hour limit. I was a regular listener but I haven't been back since the first time I hit the 40 hour limit. I listened while at work, hence the 40 hours. Maybe they don't want me as a listener. I frankly was somewhat turned off by the roadblock message as well. I took it as a scolding for using their service. I also am a Slacker listener, so I just browsed over to Slacker and I haven't been back.

Indeed, the entire article is about marketing. You like that Pandora is free, so do I. As it turns out, though, Pandora costs about $30 million a year to keep delivering music to us so this article was speaking to the potential ways to work on building revenue to keep the service free.

I'm curious to know what "sleazy marketing ploy" in this article could possibly "trick" you into making a purchase.

Thanks for the comment. Feel free to leave genuine contact info next time.

Justin

This whole article is drivel if you ask me. I go to Pandora because it is FREE. I'm not looking for some sleazy marketing ploy to "trick" me into making a purchase. I like that it is black and white. Get in or stay out, as the author put it. The world isn't looking for the corporate world to lull them into some false sense of companionship, it wants transparency. There are some that would like everything to be sugar coated and seen in rose colored glasses, but it misses the mark with me. Reiterated, the author presents nothing more than marketing fodder.
